VALE DA ESTRELA DAIRY FEATURED IN EL CORTE INGLÉS MAGAZINE
Vale da Estrela Dairy is one of the highlights of the magazine “For City Lovers” published El Corte Inglés.
In a section called “For Gourmet Lovers”, the magazine dedicates several pages to the “Highest Cheese in Portugal”, Serra da Estrela cheese, “considered one of the best in the world”.
Vale da Estrela Dairy is one of the producers mentioned by the magazine, with reference to Jorge Coelho’s origins in the Mangualde region and the resumption of a family activity. From this relationship of “affection” with the cheese came the creation of the Daitry and “today Jorge Coelho promotes this delicacy through El Corte Inglés and is also present in several countries”.
In the text, it is also mentioned that “their cottage cheese, another gem made from sheep’s milk, runs out quickly”.
In a report by João Barbosa and Paulo Alexandre Coelho, Serra da Estrela cheese is qualified “as one of the noblest Portuguese foods” and it’s explained the context of its production in Serra da Estrela and some of the requirements to be classified as a PDO cheese.
