VALE DA ESTRELA CURD CHEESE RECEIVES GOLD MEDAL

Vale da Estrela Dairy won the Gold Medal on the 11th National Contest of Portuguese Traditional Curd Cheese, organized by CNEMA together with Qualifica/oriGIn Portugal.

With the objective of rewarding, promoting, value and publicize the genuine traditional Curd Cheeses, Vale da Estrela entered, for the first time, in this contest, presenting, according to the jury, a curd cheese “deliciously smooth, with creamy, white, slightly grainy dough, that melts gently in the mouth”.

To Anabela Fraga, in charge of Vale da Estrela production, “this distinction attributed to Vale da Estrela Curd Cheese is a great pride for a team that is keenly committed to the traditional production of this excellent Serra da Estrela PDO Curd Cheese, produced from the curd of the milk of Bordaleira ewe, a characteristic breed of this region, preserving the authenticity of a real traditional product, a mission that the founder of Vale da Estrela called his own, defending the region of Serra da Estrela,  and to whom we dedicate this Award”.

 

This Medal follows the Award attributed to Vale da Estrela Dairy, in 2019, in Paris, where, for the first time a Serra da Estrela PDO Matured Cheese was recognized in the Mondial du Fromage, one of the three renown international Contests, certifying the superior quality of the real PDO cheese and curd cheese of Serra da Estrela.
