This Sunday’s edition of TVI’s “A trip to my hometown” series was dedicated to Contenças, the land where Jorge Coelho was born. The return to origins is reported by Jorge Coelho with the project of Vale da Estrela Dairy.

The report begins with an aerial view of the Dairy and with Jorge Coelho explaining that this was a traditional activity in the family, with particular memories of his grandfather, and that this was one of the fundamental reasons why he bet on the production of PDO cheeses.

Journalist Susana Pinto did a journalistic work that traces the childhood of Jorge Coelho in Contenças and the friendships in the village where he was born and attended primary school and also in Mangualde where he completed secondary education.

We learned that he played football for two years in the Grupo Desportivo de Mangualde but, as he confessed, this was not his strong point.

The train station in Contenças was the point of contact with comics magazines and some newspapers that started to arouse his curiosity.

Today, in the family’s house opposite the station, he reconstructed, with some objects, the activity of his grandfather as a cheese refiner.
