Jorge Coelho was the speaker of the  28th “Capítulo” chapter of the  Brotherhood of Serra da Estrela Cheese that took place this Saturday, 11th March, by the occasion of the Cheese Fair of Oliveira do Hospital

The manager of Vale da Estrela Dairy made a communication dedicated to the theme “Historical Food/A new challenge”.

Jorge Coelho stressed the importance for the region of the production of PDO cheese and of preserving the traditional way of production, with only natural ingredients.

Jorge Coelho also highlighted the importance of traditional and quality products for the regional development.

The “Capítulo” took place in the chapel of the Desagravo Convent, in Vila Pouca da Beira and the ceremony was opened by the Grand Master and Grand Councilor, Manuel Leal Freire, who was also honoured, at the age of 88, and for being an “illustrious figure of the Brotherhood world as well as of the Culture of our Country”.

This meeting was attended by more than 30 Brotherhoods, Portuguese and Spanish, and was attended by more than 200 people.
