As part of an agreement with Abreu Travel Agency, visits by tourists, particularly Brazilians, began this month to the Vale da Estrela Dairy, in Mangualde.

Until April 1, 2020, Vale da Estrela Dairy became part of the Portugal tourist circuit with Santiago de Compostela, promoted by Viagens ABREU S.A., which attracts tourists from South America, especially Brazil, and Spain.

This commercial agreement provides for the annual visit of approximately 3,024 people, accompanied by Tour Leaders from ABREU, and has a weekly frequency.

During the visit, the entire production process of Serra da Estrela PDO Cheese and Serra da Estrela Cottage Cheese is explained, as well as a framework and explanation from the Bordaleira Sheep, the Shepherd, the Cheesemaker and the Serra. Visitors also enjoy a tasting of products from Vale da Estrela Dairy and Dão wine. In this way, Vale da Estrela Dairy and ABREU are making a decisive contribution to the dissemination and promotion of SERRA DA ESTRELA PDO CHEESE, flavors and ancestral methods, classified as one of the 7 Portuguese Gastronomic Wonders.
